Daal - cooking

This dish is called 'Daal'. It is a warm lentil curry from India. Its main ingredients are red lentils, coconut milk, vegetable stock, onion, garlic, ginger, and spices.

You can choose your favourite spices to put in it. Here, Dylan uses cumin, paprika, and turmeric (kurkuma). Garam masala, fenugreek, and coriander are also good spices to use, if you have them.

The word 'daal' comes from the Hindi language (दाल). It means 'lentil'. The 'a' sound is very long, like in 'father'.

Watch the video below to see how Dylan makes an easy daal. It tastes delicious! I like to eat it with bread, rice, and vegetables (e.g. cabbage or tomatoes). If you put chillies in and it is too spicy, you can eat it with yoghurt.
