ESL conversation - sports

We used these slides for a 7th grader conversation class (ages 12-13). They are quite a shy class, but expressed their interests in sports so we threw this together to get their ideas. It goes through winter sports, water sports, extreme sports, contact/non-contact sports, team/individual sports, and ball games. It also includes a template for answering 'have you tried' questions in the perfect tense. We used this to avoid problems with do/play/go, which they will practise in their normal English class. In our bi-weekly conversation classes, we've tried to avoid any overt grammar, so as to make it seem less lesson-y, for lack of a better expression.

The recommendations game that Dylan came up with is quite nice! Just make sure to concept check 'recommends'. We learnt the hard way when the students started disagreeing with the statements!
