Pizza - cooking

When schools were open here in Czechia, we made pizza in cooking class. Because we only had 1.5 hours for class, we didn't use yeast in the dough. If you have 2 hours before you want to eat, I recommend this recipe instead.

You don't need to do much work - it just takes time for the dough to rise before you can put the toppings on. The 'toppings' are what you put on the pizza, e.g. tomato sauce, cheese, herbs.

This recipe is inspired by BBC Good Foods.

Time: 2 hours
Feeds: 2-3 people (this recipe can make two pizzas!)

Ingredients

  • 220g flour (we use 3/4 of a beer glass because we don't have a measuring jug)
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp (olive) oil
  • 2 tbsp warm milk
  • 100ml warm water (1/2 a small coffee cup)
For the toppings (you can choose this, but we used these:)
  • Passata (tomato spread, not ketchup)
  • Mozzarella cheese (squeeze out the water before you use it)
  • Olives
  • Mushrooms
  • Sun-dried tomatoes
  • Basil
  • Rocket

Method

Mix the flour, yeast and salt in a mixing bowl.

Add the oil and warm milk. Stir.

Add the water slowly, mixing it until you have a ball.

Knead the ball for 5 minutes until it is smooth.

Cover it with a wet tea towel and leave it for 1 hour, until it is bigger.

Push the air out of it and roll it into a small ball again. Leave it for 30 minutes - 1 hour, until it is big again.

Heat the oven as hot as you can. Roll out the dough.

Spread your toppings on the dough.

Cook the pizza in the oven for 10-12 minutes.

Enjoy your pizza!

Let me know what you think of the pizza! It is a very thin and crispy dough.
